Just Talk

So last week we gave Zillah her very first popsicle. One of my few neighbors, Jessica, came over to visit us. She has a son, Emmett, who is just a baby himself. Jessica asked for a popsicle for her son because he was getting cranky. So I grabbed one from the ice box and handed it to her. Zillah was immediatley attracked by the bright green color and began reaching for it. Being a year old now I thought it'd be safe to let her try one so I went and grabbed the same color one for her. Then I brought it back out and opened it and gave her a small piece.

Well ladies, Mother's Day is here this weekend and I am just thrilled! Of course my little lady can't get me anything but I sure can buy myself something really nice and address it from her!! But seriously, I am excited to be a mom and to share that joy with my mom this weekend as well.

I want to start a tradition with my daughter, that every Mother's Day we will make something together, mostly because I want to share it with her, not just receive gifts from her! The catch is how long will she be interested? I mean when will she decide that she no longer wants to spend time with mom?

A couple friends and I were discussing a tragedy that happened here in Massachusetts a couple months ago. There was a gun show where a father brought his 8-year-old son. I guess they had various guns to try out and one of them was actually an Uzi. The father let his son try it. The boys was not big or strong enough to handle the gun and ended up shooting and killing himself. It was horrible!
I won't even get into what that father must be dealing with, because I can't even imagine what he has to live with every day.

I thought this might just be a fun topic, a place to share some of the incredible things that come out of our children's mouths. I'll start with one from last Christmas that is still a favorite of mine!

It was the day after Thanksgiving and I was driving with my two boys to do a few errands. The boys noticed how many cars were in the store parking lots and we got talking about all the holiday shopping and presents and so forth. So I mention that soon we'll have to do some holiday shopping, too, and start talking about what kind of gifts to get for friends and family.

I'm not really looking for advice here--long past a need for baby names!--but just wondering how you all came up with your little ones' names. I'm always interested in hearing different names or watching trends and so forth.

Simple enough question, but how do you all organize all the photos you take of your kids? If you're anything like me, you have a ton!

Hope you all have a wonderful, peaceful Thanksgiving! We all have so much to be thankful for and it's great to take some time and really reflect on all our blessings. Whatever you're doing tomorrow--big or small--hope it's the best and you have some quality time to spend with family and friends.

I have a little sister named Morgan. And she is deadly afraid of practically everything. She is afraid of the dark, afraid of walking down the hall. And these may seem like minor things.. or usual fears. But she won't even go to her own bedroom in broad daylight. She won't use the restroom without freaking out. She can't brush her teeth alone, sleep alone or do anything. While she sleeps she has to hold your hand.. and so on.

Really, it gets extremely intense and we think that there is just no way she can be this afraid of life.

What do we do to get organized? I have started setting aside a time every Sunday to set my goals for the week, including daily goals. These include my typical house work, kids daily school, work on site, freelance and so on. It is working great for me and keeping me on task.

As for the organization of space....I have a favorite corner in the dining room for large bulk, a favorite counter for bills and a favorite box for work stuff Shocked
