Family Activities

It's that time again! Time for the kids to decide what they want to be for Halloween this year and Aidan's having trouble coming up with ideas. Eli has already decided to be Spogebob, which is actually a nice change. He's been Thomas the Train and then James (basically just a red version of Thomas!) the past two years. So he's all set, but we're struggling with Aidan's.

Okay, I know I'm really jumping the gun here, but I LOVE Christmas and everything that goes with it. And one of the most important things to me are some of our family traditions. I'd love to hear some of the other traditions families carry on throughout the holiday season.

How many of you incorporate Santa into your Christmas celebrations or not? I'm just curious because of a conversation a few moms and I were having last night. Some go over the top to maintain the Santa illusion (I'll admit to being one of those!) and others can't wait for it to be over. And I also know one mom who told her kids from day one there was no Santa, because she didn't want to lie to her kids.

This weekend we had an absolute great time with a bunch of neighborhood families! On Saturday night, one of our neighbors invited about 10-12 families over to their home for an outdoor movie night. He was able to borrow a projector from his workplace and hung a king-size sheet in his back yard. The kids all spread out blankets and lawn chairs and settled in for an evening of cartoons and a family movie. They had a blast!!

I know that title is so broad, but I wasn't sure what else to name it. I almost put this under Christmas Traditions, but I thought I'd start a new topic and see if you all had some ideas out there too.

Last night, Aidan asked me if we'd be making our "Christmas Chains" again this year. I was kind of surprised, but very pleased because I was afraid he'd be outgrowing them. Instead, he's really looking forward to it.
