Mother's Day is here!
Well ladies, Mother's Day is here this weekend and I am just thrilled! Of course my little lady can't get me anything but I sure can buy myself something really nice and address it from her!! But seriously, I am excited to be a mom and to share that joy with my mom this weekend as well.
I want to start a tradition with my daughter, that every Mother's Day we will make something together, mostly because I want to share it with her, not just receive gifts from her! The catch is how long will she be interested? I mean when will she decide that she no longer wants to spend time with mom?
Anyway, I am going to start and enjoy it while I can. Any suggestions? What kinds of stuff do you think is fun and enjoyable to do with your kids? My little lady is nearing 1 and enjoys just about ANYTHING messy!

What great ideas, ladies!
I am a sucker for traditions and memories. I heard someone once talk about taking photos of their kids once a year in the same shirt. It would be your shirt, of course, and watch how they grow into it. For Mother's day, you could have an entire photo shoot. Silly shots, messy shots, funny shots, etc.. You could make a photo slideshow on dvd every year or just scrapbook it.
I took a great photo with my son last year, unfortunately, I did not get a photo this year, but I'll be sure to start that tradition next year with my baby girl.

This sounds like a real fun way to work with Mother's day. I think I will start now, I mean Mother's day was just a couple weeks ago so it still counts right? This year was my first Mother's Day as a mom so I am so on it!
Hello JaMae! I think yearly hand prints would be an awesome thing to start. Since this is your first Mother's Day and she is so tiny it would be perfect. Buy different colored finger paints, a big poster board and place each others hand prints on it. It will be fun for her (messy) and something that you can look back on from year to year as she grows.
I haven't done this with my own kids, never crossed my mind to do so, but I do have the "hand prints" poem from each of them at age 5 and I look at it and smile even today as my oldest is 16! Oh, and it's not the poem that gets me, it's remember how small my kids once were! I think this would be a wonderful tradition to start.
Let me know how things go and what you guys do. It will be great I'm sure.

Looks like I am going to make handprints for the first few years anyway AND watch her grow into my shirt! Thanks ladies for the suggestions, both are fun ways to share Mother's Day with my daughter.
